Introduces the use of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) in Physical Therapy. Focuses on defining EBP, designing clinical questions and searching common physical therapy research databases to support clinical decision making in the treatment of patients. Presents and utilizes basic research designs. Includes practical application of a clinical situation.

- Discuss the role of evidence-based practice in physical therapy decision-making and treatment selection.

- Use research sources to answer physical therapy clinical questions.

- Apply research findings to clinical practice.
- Demonstrate understanding of the implications of research on physical therapy clinical practice.
- Define quantitative research designs and implications to PT practice.
- Define qualitative research designs and implications to PT practice.
- Discuss the elements of a research article.
- Discriminate the level of evidence of a professional research article using the hierarchy of research.
- Explain how the hierarchical level is used to determine the strength or weakness of the research article.
- Evaluate a research article from professional literature.
