1. Implement a physical therapy plan of care that includes electrical stimulation.

1. 1. Practice the various clinical set-ups including two pad, four pad, four pad reciprocal, and point electrode.
   2. Compare and contrast the appropriate use of electrical stimulation equipment.
   3. Use electrical stimulation treatments in combination with other modalities and exercise.
   4. Demonstrate electrical stimulation treatments in a timely, safe, legal, and ethical manner.
   5. Document the treatment, response, and all related information after each treatment.
   6. Communicate with peers regarding electrotherapy.
   7. Respond to acute changes in physiological state and modify treatment program as appropriate.
2. Demonstrate the application of TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation).
   1. Position the patient for TENS application.
   2. Describe the sensation of TENS.
   3. Practice TENS application.
3. Demonstrate the application of NMES/FES.
   1. Describe the sensation of NMES/FES.
   2. Practice NMES/FES application.
4. Demonstrate the application of interferential electrical stimulation.
   1. Practice interferential applications.
5. Demonstrate the application of direct current iontophoresis.
   1. Practice motor point stimulation with DC.
6. Demonstrate the application of high volt and medium frequency electrical stimulation.
   1. Practice High Volt and Medium Frequency applications.
7. Demonstrate the application of US with EMS.
   1. Practice US with EMS applications.
8. Utilize cervical traction effectively as directed by the physical therapist plan of care.
   1. Position safely the patient and the cervical headpiece in preparation for a mechanical cervical traction treatment.
   2. Adjust mechanical traction parameters based on the PT plan of care including:
      1. Duration
      2. Angle of pull
      3. Static versus intermittent
      4. Pounds of pull
   3. Practice manual cervical traction in supine effectively.
9. Utilize pelvic traction effectively as directed by the physical therapist plan of care.
   1. Position safely the patient, corsets, and bench in preparation for mechanical pelvic traction treatment.
   2. Adjust mechanical pelvic traction parameters based on a plan of care the by PT:
      1. Duration
      2. Angle of pull
      3. Static vs. intermittent
      4. Pounds of pull
      5. Hip flexion angle
      6. Table locked/unlocked
   3. Practice other methods of pelvic traction effectively including:
      1. Manual pelvic traction in supine
      2. Autotraction
      3. Positioning
      4. Gravity assisted
10. Utilize intermittent pneumatic compression effectively to reduce edema.
    1. Describe the sensation of intermittent pneumatic compression to a patient.
    2. Practice manual lymphatic drainage.
    3. Practice intermittent pneumatic compression to the UE and LE safely and effectively with the following components:
       1. Pre-post treatment measurements
       2. Elevation of the limb
       3. Pre-post treatment blood pressure monitoring.
11. Utilize short-wave diathermy (SWD) effectively as directed by the physical therapist plan of care.
    1. Practice SWD treatments considering patient position, patient mobility, and patient comfort.
    2. Effectively communicate the sensation of SWD to a patient.
12. Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
    1. Participate in mock emergency scenarios.
