SKPT 112 - Stationary Boiler Engineering II

This course includes boiler settings, combustion equipment, operation and maintenance of boilers, pumps, reciprocating steam engines, valve operating mechanisms.

Outcomes and Objectives
  1. The City of Saginaw still has a program to license stationary boiler operators and stationary engineers; the information contained in this curriculum will enable the student to pass those City of Saginaw Boiler Operators License Exams.
    1. Be able to make underway manual adjustments to the burner fuel air ratio. The student will be able to change water column gage glass under pressure, and blow down the boiler.
    2. Be able to take a Scotch Marine (round-fire tube) boiler out of service and prepare it for dry summer storage.
    3. Be able to troubleshoot electrical problems that could develop with the pump controls of the boiler feed unit.
