Uses the framing square and speed square in construction. Credit may be earned in either SKCT 114 or RC 114  but not in both.

Outcomes and Objectives
  1. Students can identify all scales and tables found on the standard framing square.
    1. Demonstrate board foot calculations using the Essex Board Foot scale.
    2. Describe an octagon using the scale found on the square.
    3. Determine the length of an even rise run brace.
    4. Determine the length of a common rafter.
    5. Establish the length of a jack rafter.
    6. Determine the length of a hip rafter.
  2. Students will calculate and layout all building components relative to the framing square.
    1. Student will calculate and layout:
      1. Common rafter
      2. Truss
      3. Hip rafter
      4. Stairs
      5. Jack rafter
      6. Odd run brace
      7. Even run brace
