  1. Identify all scales and tables found on the standard framing square.
    1. Demonstrate board foot calculations using the Essex Board Foot scale
    2. Describe an octagon using the scale found on the square
    3. Determine the length of an even rise run brace
    4. Determine the length of a common rafter
    5. Establish the length of a jack rafter
    6. Determine the length of a hip rafter
  2. Calculate and layout all building components relative to the framing square.
    1. Student will calculate and layout:

  3. Calculate building dimensions for roofing components using a speed square.
    1. Student will calculate irregular roof framing components.
