DMS 100 - Patient Care and ManagementCredits: 1 Instructional Contact Hours: 1
Develops knowledge and skills in basic concepts of patient care. Includes emergency care procedures, infection control, patient safety and transfers, communication, and patient education.

Outcomes and Objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professions to work effectively in the healthcare environment.
- Identify members of the healthcare team
- Describe goals of the healthcare team
- Describe the hierarchy and various departments of a healthcare system
- Demonstrate the ability to evaluate and manage the needs of the patient.
- Describe methods for evaluation of patient status
- Describe vital signs used to assess patient condition
- List temperature values for each method of temperature measurement
- List normal respiration rates for the adult and child
- Describe the monitoring method for respiration rate
- List normal values for blood pressure
- Demonstrate the correct method for obtaining a blood pressure
- Identify major sites for monitoring the pulse

- Describe post-interventional procedure care techniques and discharge
