Delta College offers a Certificate of Achievement in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) that includes four core courses with additional supporting classes. Computer Numerical Control programmers/operators can work with a wide variety of CNC machine tools although many specialize in one or two types. Specific duties may include: studying blueprints or sketches; building tooling, jigs, or fixtures; programming and editing; machine work pieces; inspecting and certifying product for dimensional accuracy; and light duty repair and maintenance of the CNC machine.

Fall First Year:

DRF 121 - Blueprint Reading Credits: 3
SKDR 101 may be taken in place of DRF 121
MIT 118 - Safety Practices and Procedures Credits: 2
SKCA 120 , MTH 103 , SKMA 103 or any approved intermediate Algebra course may be taken in place of MIT 118 or CAD 120
MS 113 - Introduction to Machining Processes Credits: 2
SKTR 113 may be taken in place of MS 113

Winter First Year:

CAD 120 - Introduction to CAM Credits: 3
SKCA 120 , MTH 103 , SKMA 103 or any approved intermediate Algebra course may be taken in place of MIT 118 or CAD 120
CNC 162 - Computer Numerical Control Theory Credits: 4
SKCN 162 may be taken in place of CNC 162
MS 181W - Machine Tools I Credits: 4
SKTR 181W may be taken in place of MS 181W

Notations

CREDITS EARNED FOR THIS CERTIFICATE MAY BE APPLIED TOWARDS COMPLETIONS OF: A CNC ADVANCED CERTIFICATE; OR THE MANUFACTURING AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY AAS DEGREE; OR THE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY AAS DEGREE.

A grade of “C” (2.0) or higher is required in all courses for the certificate.
CNC 162 is a Key course and must be completed with 5 years of completing certificate. Failure to complete within the stated time frame will require you to repeat this course. See Graduation Requirements .
