This program prepares a student with the academic skills required to work as an electrician. The core courses meet or exceed the minimum Related Technical Instruction (RTI) requirements as established by the Electrical Administrative Board of the State of Michigan. The Electrician - Advanced Certificate allows students the opportunity to follow different paths including:

A student may seek employment with an electrical contractor, machine builder, as part of a company maintenance team, etc.
This program ladders directly into the Electrician-Associate in Applied Science, allowing a student to continue their education.

Fall First Year:

ET 100 - Electrical Calculations Credits: 2
ET 100 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class and is a prerequisite for ET 120 . (SKET 100 can be taken in place of ET 100 )
ET 110 - DC Circuits Credits: 2
ET 110 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class and is a prerequisite for ET 120 . (SKET 110 can be taken in place of ET 110 )
ET 120 - AC Circuits Credits: 2
ET 120 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class. Class will begin after the prerequisite classes, ET 100 and ET 110 end. (SKET 120 can be taken in place of ET 120 )

ET 103 - OSHA Safety and Michigan Electrical Laws Credits: 2
SKEL 103 can be taken in place of ET 103 .
ET 130 - Conventional Controls Credits: 3
SKET 130 can be taken in place of ET 130 .

SKET 136 can be taken in place of ET 136 .

ET 132 - Power Distribution Credits: 3
SKET 132 can be taken in place of ET 132 .
