Provides the student with opportunities to enhance the clinical education experience. Emphasizes the correlation of all aspects of radiographic procedures. Includes radiographic image critique.

Prerequisite(s): RAD 160 , RAD 165W , RAD 212  each with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade
Corequisite(s): RAD 220 , RAD 258W

Outcomes and Objectives  

  1. Produce appropriate documents for assigned topics.
    1. Research patient records, diagnostic images, radiologist reports/interviews, textbooks, journals, and other appropriate resources.
    2. Identify relevant information from sources.
    3. Select important information from appropriate resources.
    4. Draw relevant conclusions from resources.
    5. Organize a written outline to interpret appropriate information.
  2. Present Case Studies
    1. Utilizing medical images and written research, present case studies on individual patients over assigned topics.
    2. Discuss a pathological condition relative to your case content.
  3. Perform radiographic critique
    1. Evaluate radiographs for:
      1. proper positioning
      2. anatomy demonstrated
      3. proper radiographic technique
      4. pathology demonstrated
      5. radiation safety
  4. Demonstrate understanding of ARRT examination topics.
    1. Discuss topics concerning Image Production as outlined by the ARRT Specifications
      1. Image Acquisition and Technical Evaluation
      2. Equipment Operation and Quality Assurance
    2. Discuss topics concerning Procedures as outlined by the ARRT Specifications
      1. Head, Spine and Pelvis
      2. Thorax and Abdomen
      3. Extremity Procedures

E. Produce a Study Journal

  1.  Identify areas of weakness concerning ARRT Topics
  2. Develop a plan for remediation on topics
