Focuses on the study of pathophysiology and the disease process of the following body systems: Respiratory, cardiac, hemo-immune, perioperative, renal, neurological, and oncology. This theory course has a concurrent lab course.

Outcomes and Objectives

Demonstrate Human Flourishing, Nursing Judgment, and Spirit of Inquiry while developing Professional Identity as a PN to improve the quality of care for patients, families and communities.
1. Apply and uphold ethical and legal guidelines that relate to the LPN scope of practice.
2. Analyze individual assessment data and its influence on the wellness-illness continuum.
3. Document and explain relevant adult assessment data that includes pathophysiology, psychosocial and cultural needs.
4. Collaborate and assist with the development of an individualized plan of care for the adult with realistic and measurable goals.
5. Uphold professional behaviors outlined in the Nursing Handbook.
6. Analyze personal strengths and weaknesses and demonstrate professional growth.
7. Demonstrate safe performance of nursing skills and medication administration (per facility policy) in the provision of nursing care to 2-4 adults.
8. Demonstrate ability to apply theapeutic communication both verbally and written to promote relationship centered care.
9. Incorporate positive healthcare team values that focus on patient centered care.
