Outcomes and Objectives
  1. Examine the history of the region in broad terms.
    1. Visit significant historical sites in the region.
    2. Describe and discuss the significance of these sites to the history and culture of the region.
  2. Examine the political structures and practice of the region.
    1. Read assigned material to understand past and current political structures and practice as they relate to the region.
    2. Discuss specific timely topics.
  3. Examine the macro economy of the region.
    1. Read assigned materials to gain an understanding of the effects globalization has had on the economic, political and social institutions of the country.
    2. Discuss the "upside" and the "downside" of globalization in general and regionally.
    3. Discuss specific timely topics.
    4. Present views and encourage the members of the class to respond--to the specific topic assigned and covered in tutorial with instructor.
  4. Apply broad principles of sociology and psychology to demonstrate understanding of culture, customs, and practices of the region.
    1. Analyze cross-culturally social issues and human behavior of the region.
    2. Discuss how one's own attitudes, tastes, tolerance, and perspectives affect this experience.
  5. Create both an academic journal and an experiential diary reflecting on learning and travel experience.
    1. Respond to the cultural experiences.
