SKMA 112 - Applied Integrated Electrical Mathematics II

Develops further competency in the application of mathematics principles to electrical circuit configurations including DC and AC circuit applications. Includes trigonometry as applied to electrical-circuit theory and non-mathematical theory related to electricity and electronics.

Outcomes and Objectives
  1. Understand electrical circuit parameters and associated circuit configurations as they pertain to DC and AC.
    1. Study and demonstrate electrical vocabulary.
    2. Use mathematics to solve wire size, AC ohms Law, AC waveform evaluation, vector and phasors, and inductance.
    3. Solve all parameters in a series circuit.
    4. Solve all parameters in a parallel circuit.
    5. Solve all parameters in a series-parallel combination.
    6. Troubleshoot mathematical inaccuracies in series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits.
  2. When given an electronic circuit schematic, convert the circuit into an equivalent circuit and analyze different application.
    1. Mathematically apply trigonometric formulas to AC circuits.
    2. Use right angle mathematics in AC circuit solutions.
    3. Construct a voltage divider.
    4. Build and measure a Wheatstone Bridge.
    5. Mathematically calculate Power Factor in AC circuit configurations.
    6. Calculate the reactive nature of inductive circuits having various values of L in different circuit configurations.
  3. Construct electronic circuits for laboratory verification.
    1. Determine and construct a series circuit and verify with test equipment circuit parameters with AC and DC voltage.
    2. Determine, construct and measure all parameters for parallel circuit with AC and DC voltage.
    3. Determine, construct and measure all parameters for series-parallel circuit with AC voltage.
    4. Determine, construct and measure all parameters for a given Ohms Law and Watts Law circuit with AC voltage.
