Provides clinical and laboratory opportunities that focus on basic family centered maternity care, growth and development, and care of pediatric patients and their families while applying the PN competencies of Human Flourishing, Nursing Judgment, Professional Identity, and Spirit of Inquiry. This course has a concurrent theory course.

Prerequisite(s): PNE 122W and PNE 122LW with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0)
Corequisite(s): PNE 123W, PNE 123LW, PNE 125W, CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT IN CURRENT FEE COURSE REQUIRED - Must be taken either prior to or at the same time as this course

Outcomes and Objectives

Demonstrate Human Flourishing, Nursing Judgment and Spirit of Inquiry while developing Professional Identity as a PN to improve the quality of care for patients, families and communities.
1. Integrate principles to promote dignity, integrity, self-determination, and personal growth of diverse patients, their families, and oneself to provide individualized, culturally appropriate, relationship centered nursing care.
2. Generate judgments in practice, substantiated with evidence, that integrate nursing science in the provision of safe, quality care for diverse people and their families in collaboration with the health care team.
3. Integrate into practice the unique role of a Practical Nurse as a member of the health care team, committed to evidence-based practice, caring, advocacy, and safe quality care, to provide optimal health care for diverse patients and their families.
