Introduces the PN competencies of Human Flourishing, Nursing Judgment, Professional Identity, and Spirit of Inquiry. Includes opportunities to practice clinical nursing skills and techniques in the care of adults in selected clinical facilities. This lab course has a concurrent theory course.
Prerequisite(s): Current validation for PN program; documentation of Basic Nursing Skills. Outcomes and Objectives
- Demonstrate Human Flourishing, Nursing Judgment, and Spirit of Inquiry while developing Professional Identity as a PN to improve the quality of care for patients, families and communities.
- Identify promotion of dignity, Integrity, self-determination, and personal growth of diverse patients, their families, oneself to provide individualized, culturally appropriate, relationship centered nursing care.
- Recognize judgments in practice, substantiated with evidence, that integrate nursing science in the provision of safe, quality care for diverse people and their families in collaboration with the health care team.
- Identify qualities and responsibilities of the unique role of a Practical Nurse as a member of the health care team, committed to evidence-based practice, caring, advocacy, and safe quality care, to provide optimal health care for diverse patients and their families.
- Describe effective strategies for collaborating with health care team members, utilize evidence, best practice, and patient care situations to promote optimal health status.
