Delta College and Michigan State University (MSU) have joined efforts to offer regionally relevant agricultural career programs. Students are enrolled at both institutions with all courses delivered in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Students may follow their choice of two focus areas.
This partnership allows students to earn a certificate from the MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) while working toward an associate degree from Delta College. Students will be able to complete the associate degree and certificate in two years and financial aid is available to help with tuition expenses at both schools.
Students must be accepted at both Delta College and MSU IAT. Graduates will be ready to seek employment in job areas like agricultural management/business, food processing, agricutltural science, maintenance/operations fields, and so much more in the agricultural industry!
Track One: Agricultural Operations - This focus prepares graduates for a variety of careers in the production of agronomic crops. The program is a combination of Delta College general education and elective courses to meet student's career goals and aspirations. Along with MSU IAT courses in plant and soil sciences, precision agriculture, pest management, plant disease, farm management, and water management. Students will earn the MSU Agricultural Operations certificate and the Delta College Agricultural Technology - AAS associate degree upon completion of the program track. Students who are on the transfer pathway will plan on transferring to a University of their choice. The Agricultural Technology Program Coordinator will be working closely with students on their classes for transferring.
Track Two: Food Processing, Technology and Safety - This focus prepares students on the processes and technologies used to convert commodities into consumable food products. The program combines online and in-person courses with applied learning experience including a mobile food processing lab, industry clerkship and professional internship. Students will earn the MSU Food Processing, Technology and Safety certificate and the Delta College Agricultural Technology - AAS associate degree upon completion of the program track. Students who are on the transfer pathway will plan on transferring to a University of their choice. The Agricultural Technology Program Coordinator will be working closely with students on their classes for transferring.

Track One - Agricultural Operations
The Agricultural Operations offers two pathways for students. The Career and the Transfer Pathways. The Career Pathway focuses on helping students with their career goals and offering more Delta College courses. The Transfer Pathway focuses on helping students transfer to a four-year institution by completing the Michigan Transfer Agreement with Delta College. Agricultural Operations - Pathway One: Career

- Concurrent enrollment with Delta College and Michigan State University's Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) is necessary to complete the Delta College Agricultural Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree and the IAT Certificate from Michigan State University.

- Official transcripts documenting MSU courses will have to be on file in Delta College Registrar’s Office prior to application for graduation.
- During your last semester, request that your Delta College official transcripts be sent to MSU for official completion of the Michigan State University, Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) Certificate.
- Michigan State University recognizes the commitment and value of completing an approved Michigan AFNR Education Program and earning the FFA State Degree by awarding those students with six credits that can be applied to any academic program at MSU. - AT-291 may be taken more than once at MSU. These courses have the same course numbers but different syllabi for each time it is taken. Syllabi will be sent with an official copy of the transcript for equivalency consideration at Delta.
- All newly admitted students, first-year and transfer, to MSU for Fall 202X and Spring 202X semesters are eligible for the Spartan Early Start Program (SES). SES is an opportunity for incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students–those students admitted to MSU for Fall 202X or Spring 202X – to take MSU classes in July/August 202X before starting their first official semester at MSU. SES reduces the cost of up to, two courses during MSU’s second summer session.
