The Delta College Electronic Media program provides students with a broad range of traditional classroom and laboratory learning opportunities as well as hands-on experience. The EM curriculum is designed to provide well-balanced instruction in the fields of broadcasting, multimedia production, and digital film. Beginning with an exploration of the history of broadcasting and film, students then study broadcast and film production. Additionally students will gain hands on experience in laboratory and real-time operating conditions. The EM program then concentrates on the growing and ever-changing fields of digital media productions and their practical applications.

For the Broadcasting Track students will utilize television production studios and computer labs to produce individual and group productions. The program also offers broadcasting students a chance to acquire professional experience while in school through internships with commercial radio and TV  stations as well as practicum credit through WDCQ-TV/WDCP-TV and WUCX-FM, Delta College's Quality Public Television and Radio stations.

For the Digital Film Track students will experience hands-on opportunities with screenwriting, digital filming, editing, cinematography, and overall production. Additionally, the track provides fundamentals in the business of independent filmmaking.

Successful completion of the Electronic Media program will provide students with the fundamental information and experience necessary for entry level positions in communication and information industries. The EM degree will also provide a strong foundation for a student’s further pursuit of a related undergraduate degree. Discussion regarding the best order for you to schedule the courses should be made with a Delta Electronic Media coodinator. Check course descriptions for prerequisites.
