Associate in Arts Degree - AA


This degree is designed to allow you to complete required general education introductory courses for your intended program of study at a college or university.  This degree is primarily intended for students attempting to complete a bachelors, or higher, program of study.  It is crucial to consult with a Student Success Counselor or Advisor on proper course selections to align with your ultimate transfer and career goals.  Fulfilling the required thirty credit (30) program requirements meeting MTA, will meet the requirements for the MTA (Michigan Transfer Agreement).

College Composition I


  • ENG — Any Approved College Composition I Course

Approved courses:  ENG 111A , ENG 111B , ENG 111C , ENG 111H , or ENG 111       

College Composition II


  • ENG — Any Approved College Composition II Course

Approved courses:  ENG 112A ENG 112H , ENG 112 , ENG 113 , ENG 211H , or ENG 211  

Humanities


  • COM – Any COM course from approved list
  • Additional Humanities Elective from approved list

Approved courses are listed on Michigan Transfer Agreement , must be two different disciplines

Social Sciences


  • Foundational Civics – POL or HIS from approved list
  • Additional Social Science Electives from approved list

Approved courses are listed on Michigan Transfer Agreement , must be two different disciplines

Natural Science


  • Natural Science with lab from approved list
  • Natural Science with or without lab from approved list

Approved courses are listed on Michigan Transfer Agreement , must be from two different disciplines

Mathematics


  • MTH — Any approved Mathematics course from approved list

Approved courses are listed on Michigan Transfer Agreement  

Total Credits for MTA : 30


  • Additional courses may need to be taken from the list to reach the 30 credits required for MTA.

Foundational Civics


  • Any Approved Foundational Civics Course: Credits 3

Approved courses:POL 103HW , POL 103W , POL 105HW , POL 105W , POL 212W , POL 215W , POL 220W , POL 221W , POL 223W , POL 225W , POL 228W , POL 229W , POL 232W , HIS 221W , HIS 222W , or HIS 237W  

Lifelong Wellness


  • Any Approved Lifelong Wellness Course: Credits 2

Any LW (1 credit) and LWA (1 credit) OR any LW (2 credits) OR LW 206A LWA 206B , or LWA 206C   (2 credits for occupational programs), OR LWT 210 , LWT 230 , LWT 240 , LWT 242 , or LWT 251  (3-4 credits)

Additional Electives


  • Electives to meet the overall 62 credits required for degree

Notations


  1. Complete one of the following Civic Engagement options in addition to the Foundational Civics courses listed above.
    1. Designated Service Learning course across the curriculum (SL) will appear after the course designation.
    2. A Social Sciences Civic Engagement project (1 credit). A faculty member must supervise this project, either as a project tied to a course, or as individualized instruction.
    3. A course that includes the civic engagement project in its outcome and objectives. These courses include: POL 105W , HIS 237W , IHU 120W /SSI 120W , and IHU 240W /SSI 240W .
      Note: POL 105W  and HIS 237W  will satisfy the Foundational Civics and Civic Engagement graduation requirement.
  2. Students wishing to fullfill the Michigan Transfer Agreement must successfully complete at least 30 credits of MTA approved courses, with a miniumum of a “C” (2.0) or better in each course.
