This program prepares a student with the academic skills required to work as an electrician. The core courses meet or exceed the minimum Related Technical Instruction requirements as established by the Electrical Administrative Board of the State of Michigan. This program is for students that are not currently working for an employer under a sponsored apprenticeship program. Students may follow numerous different paths including:
- A student may complete this program and seek employment with an electrical contractor, machine builder, company troubleshooting equipment, etc.
- A student may begin this program and become employed by a sponsoring company, at which time they would transfer to the Skilled Trades department.
- A sponsored student from the Skilled Trades department may take additional classes that are not required by their employer in order to earn an Associate degree in Applied Science.
- A student may take some additional courses (24 credits minimum) and earn both an Associate degree as an Electrician and in Mechatronics Technology.

ENG 111A ; ENG 111B ; ENG 111C ; ENG 111H or OAT 151 can be taken in place of ENG 111 - POL 103W - American Politics Credits: 3
POL 105W , POL 212W , POL 215W , POL 220W , POL 221W , POL 223W , POL 225W , POL 228W , HIS 221W , HIS 222W , or HIS 237W can be taken in place of POL 103W - SKET 100 - Electrical Calculations Credits: 2
SKET 100 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class and is a prerequisite for SKET 120. - SKET 110 - DC Circuits Credits: 2
SKET 110 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class and is a prerequisite for SKET 120. - SKET 120 - AC Circuits Credits: 2
SKET 120 is scheduled as a 7 1/2 week class. Class will begin after the prerequisite classes, SKET 100 and SKET 110 end.

Notations
- Successfully complete six credits in content-area writing (W) courses. Students with previously earned degrees from regionally accredited colleges and universities are exempt from this policy.
- Successfully complete 12 credits of electives.MIT 111W , MIT 118 , MIT 212 , SKMT 220 , and SKMT 222 are listed in the program as the recommended electives. Any ECN, MGT, MIT, MT, PSY, or any SKET course not listed in the program may be substituted for any of the recommended program electives.
