Automotive Service Technology - Undercar Specialist - Advanced Certificate

Successfully completing the Automotive Service Technology - Undercar Specialist - Advanced Certificate provides the skills and training for an entry level career as a service technician with an emphasis on the following undercar automotive systems; automatic transmission, manual drive trains and axles, suspension and steering, and brakes. Students who continue and complete the Associate Degree in Automotive Service Technology will have a broader based education.

Notations:


  1. A grade of “C” (2.0) or higher is required for all classes in Level 2 (AUTO 152 , AUTO 153 , AUTO 154 , AUTO 155 , AUTO 160 , and AUTO 170 ) and Level 3 (AUTO 202W , AUTO 203 , AUTO 204 , and AUTO 205 ).
  2. All classes in Level 2 (AUTO 152 , AUTO 153 , AUTO 154 , and AUTO 155 ) and Level 3 (AUTO 202W , AUTO 203 , AUTO 204 , and AUTO 205 ) are Key courses and must be completed within 5 years of completing the certificate. Failure to complete within the stated time frame will require you to repeat the course.  
  3. Students must contact the Automotive Service Program Coordinator for permission to register for the Level 2 AUTO courses. You can reach the coordinator at 989-686-9351 or send an email to btec@delta.edu. 
  4. The Automotive Service Skills Internships require a current State of Michigan Motor Vehicle Training Permit; Motor Vehicle Mechanic Certifications in all areas; or a combination of both that would cover all areas. The student must consult with the program coordinator for Automotive Service Technology before starting their internship. The student will be responsible for obtaining the place of employment for the internship which must be acceptable by Delta College. Two internships are required for the Undercar Specialist - Advanced Certificate.
  5. AUTO 216  and AUTO 226   are electives that can be taken but are not required.
