WTT 110 - Climb Safety and Rescue Safety TrainingCredits: 2 Identifies industry safety standards and regulatory requirements for fall hazards associated with wind turbine maintenance activities. Identifies the function and use of basic fall protection equipment and also selects, inspects, assembles, and uses fall protection and rescue equipment. Upon completion of this course, participants will be capable of using a planned approach to tower climbing and rescues using state-of-the art techniques and equipment.

Outcomes and Objectives
- Identify industry safety equipment and regulatory requirements for personal protection equipment and practices (lock-out/tag-out) and fall hazards associated with wind turbine maintenance activities.
- Identify safety regulations that apply to technicians.
- Identify proper industry safety equipment: climbing gear, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
- Identify the function and use of basic fall protection equipment and also select, inspect, assemble, and use fall protection and rescue equipment.
- Explain the use of lock-out/tag-out practices and devices used by technicians.
- Complete a tower climb test.
- Demonstrate the use of personal protective equipment used by technicians.
- Identify safety hazards associated with wind turbines.
- Perform supervised climb test in wind turbine.
- Use climbing gear, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
- Perform Safety Training.
- Perform training related to OSHA, Electrical Safety, Walking and Working Surfaces, Exit Routes, Emergency Action and Fire Prevention Plans, Fire Protection, Materials Handling/Back Injury Prevention, Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding, and Hazard communication.
- Demonstrate skill and knowledge to use a planned approach to tower climbing and rescue.
- Explain fundamental theories and principles of fall protection.
- Practice donning a full-body harness.
- Identify anchorage points (engineered and non-engineered).
- Explain hardware compatibility.
- Identify connecting means (new standards and designs).
- Identify energy absorbing lanyards.
- Identify commercially available fall arrest systems.
- Practice using ladder climbing devices.
- Perform rescue demonstration.
- Practice packaging and lowering the patient.
- Demonstrate the use of pre-climb checklists and rescue plans.
- Explain rescue system components.
- Demonstrate anchoring the rescue system.
- Demonstrate descent control.
