SSI 293 - Public AchievementCredits: 1 Introduces and applies a process for making positive-change in communities. Emphasizes the power of citizenship in democracy and that ordinary people can challenge the status quo through collaboration and working toward a common goal. Provides opportunity for “coaching” a team of middle- or high-school students in designing and implementing projects to solve civic problems while learning lifelong skills to engage in politics and public life.

- Apply a working definition of politics as a process of negotiating situations involving power relations and making public decisions.
- Practice power mapping a situation involving a variety of decision makers and stakeholders.
