SKEL 101 - Basic ElectronicsCredits: 6 The first course in a series to train electrician apprentices in the theory and application of electronics to industrial control systems. Basic electronic devices will be discussed, along with how they work and their electrical characteristics. Simple electronic circuits will be set up on trainers to illustrate the application of the devices. Troubleshooting techniques and basic test instruments will be discussed and used.

Outcomes and Objectives
- Given active electronic components students will be able to identify and express the theory of operation.
- Identify wire leads and connections in various electrical circuit applications.
- Identify by symbol and verbalize the circuit theory associated with the component.
- Connect active device into a circuit on a breadboard and verify operational parameters.
- Given electronic test equipment students will be able to connect and interpret measured parameters.
- Evaluate circuit parameters and operational theory for circuit integrity.
- Calibrate electronics test equipment before measurement to insure operational integrity.
- Use test equipment both in and out of the circuit to measure electronic component.
- Conduct safe operating procedures and equipment and live circuits.
