Outcomes and Objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge and selected skills needed to prepare for Fire Fighter I certification testing and to perform effectively as fire service emergency responder
- Meet the fire-related performance standards outlined in NFPA 1001
- Predict probable fire behavior and the action necessary to change or prevent these behaviors
- Describe the fundamentals of a water supply system, fire streams, extinguishing properties, and fire control
- Recognize toxic atmospheres, don and doff protective clothing and equipment
- Identify and safely use various rescue and extrication tools
- Identify components of typical sprinkler and standpipe systems
- Identify types of building construction, forcible entry and ventilation methods
- Use fire service tools, equipment, and perform basic firefighter duties in a safe and conscientious manner
