RAD 165W - Clinical Seminar 2

Provides the student with opportunities to enhance the clinical education experience. Emphasizes the correlation of all aspects of radiographic procedures. Includes radiographic image critique. Includes a review of radiographic concepts and theories and their clinical application.

Prerequisite(s):   RAD 135 , RAD 140W , RAD 235 , RAD 235L , RAD 264  each with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade
Corequisite(s): RAD 160 , RAD 212

Outcomes and Objectives  

  1. Produce appropriate documents over assigned topics.
    1. Research patient records, diagnostic images, radiologist reports/interviews, textbooks, journals, and other appropriate resources.
    2. Identify relevant information from sources.
    3. Select important information from appropriate resources.
    4. Draw relevant conclusions from resources.
    5. Organize a written outline to interpret appropriate information.
  2. Present case studies.
    1. Utilizing medical images and written research, present case studies on individual patients over assigned topics.
    2. Discuss a pathological condition relative to your case content.
  3. Perform radiographic critique.
    1. Evaluate radiographs for:
      1. proper positioning
      2. anatomy demonstrated
      3. proper radiographic technique
      4. pathology demonstrated
      5. radiation safety
  4. Demonstrate understanding of content for the ARRT examination.
    1. Discuss topics concerning Patient Care as outlined by the ARRT Specifications:
      1. Patient Interaction and Management
      2. Interpersonal Communication
      3. Ergonomics and Monitoring
      4. Medical Emergencies
      5. Infection Control
      6. Handling and Disposal of Toxic or Hazardous Material
      7. Pharmacology
    2. Discuss topics concerning Safety as outlined by the ARRT Specifications.  

     1.Principles of Radiation Physics and Radiobiology
     2. Radiation Protection​​​​​​​

5. Produe a  Study Journal 
     A. Identify areas of weakness concerning ARRT Topics
     B. Develop  a plan for remediation on topics
