- Analyze the Role of Case Development and Documentation in Dental Hygiene Practice
- Define case study in the context of dental hygiene.
- Analyze the purpose, audience, and goals of a case study, emphasizing its role in patient care and professional development.
- Understand how to dissect case study scenarios to extract essential information for effective treatment planning and decision making.
- Define common terminology used in case study evaluations.
- Identify the components necessary for developing and documenting a comprehensive case, including medical history, clinical findings, and treatment plans.
- Critique former case study research reports to understand common approaches, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Distinguish signs and symptoms of various dental and periodontal conditions, recognizing how they impact case documentation.
- Recognize risk factors and behaviors that exacerbate disease, and their relevance in patient management.
- Self-assess areas for improvement based on performance in practice case studies, evaluation questions, and feedback from peers or instructors.

- Obtain, review, and update medical and dental histories for case study development, ensuring accuracy and relevance to patient care.

- Select, obtain, and interpret diagnostic information, understanding the advantages and limitations of various diagnostic tools including radiographs, intraoral photos, and case study models.
- Recognize predisposing and etiologic factors that require intervention to guide disease prevention and treatment strategies.
- Use assessment findings and clinical data to formulate a dental hygiene diagnosis.
- Establish a care plan that addresses both clinical findings and patient goals.
- Establish a planned sequence of care to deliver patient-centered and evidence-based hygiene interventions.
- Implement dental hygiene interventions as part of the treatment plan, ensuring documentation of the processes and outcomes.
- Analyze the outcomes of hygiene interventions using indices, clinical examination techniques, and patient feedback.
