Outcomes and Objectives - Explain basic principles of interpersonal communication
- Demonstrate an understanding of the roles of self-concept and perception in communication
- Demonstrate an understanding of verbal and nonverbal communication.
- Practice listening skills
- Practice adapting to diverse communication styles
- Explain basic principles of small group communication
- Describe group development stages
- Describe effective conflict management in a group
- Describe group problem-solving and decision-making techniques
- Practice small group communication skills
- Apply basic principles of the communication process in public speaking to deliver required speeches
- Distinguish differences between various speech presentations: impromptu, extemporaneous (informative and persuasive) and manuscript
- Develop research skills
- Develop speech outlines with bibliographies
- Employ speech presentation techniques
- Deliver introductory/impromptu, informative, and persuasive speeches
- Use writing to promote learning of all outcomes and objectives.
