LWT 242 - Group Fitness InstructorCredits: 4 Instructional Contact Hours: 4
Introduces the skills and knowledge needed to become a certified Group Fitness Instructor. Includes how to screen and evaluate prospective clients, design safe and effective exercise programs, instruct clients in correct exercise techniques to avoid injury, and respond to the typical questions and problems that arise in a group exercise setting.

Outcomes and Objectives
- Differentiate the role of the GFI from other health and fitness professionals.
- Implement exercise programming for the separate elements of a group fitness class.
- Apply appropriate principles to movement design and exercise instruction.
- Identify the principles or methods of training for Cardiorespiratory Fitness.
- Identify the principles or methods of training for muscular strength and endurance
- Identify the principles or methods of training for flexibility.
- Apply various teaching techniques and strategies to enhance exercise instruction in the group fitness setting.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills.
- Recognize the GFI's role in participant safety.
- Recognize the GFI’s role in professional responsibility.
