Outcomes and Objectives - Demonstrate understanding of birds in the natural setting.
- Identify biotic and abiotic factors that affect birds.
- Describe the concepts of niche and habitat.
- Explain the natural history of key species.
- Explain migration and relate to seasonal habitats.
- Relate environmental factors to diversity, abundance and quality of species observed.
- Understand the concepts of range and distribution of birds.
- Identify and describe key plant communities in relationship to avian territories and feeding habits.
- Predict species location according to habitat and ecosystem.
- Describe differences between, fledglings and male and female adults over seasons.
- Compile a journal of all required activities.
- Use field instruments or technology to identify birds or their behavior.
- Effectively use binoculars and spotting scopes.
- Effectively use field identification techniques for sighting and identifying birds.
