Examines changes in style, notable contributors to the field, technology within the field, and considers the relationship between graphic design and its cultural, political, and social contexts.

1. Identify stylistic designations of graphic design.
A. Identify principles that influence graphic design. (e.g., Gestalt Theory)
2. Evaluate examples of graphic design.
A. Compare and contrast specific images, elements and principles of design.
3. Demonstrate understanding of graphic design history.
A. Identify and analyze the impact of graphic design socially, culturally, and technologically during historical movements to the present.
B. Analyze and identify differences and similarities between assigned graphic designs from the same or different historical movements.
C. Demonstrate a knowledge of historical movements, styles, graphic designers, artists and technology significant to the history of graphic design.
D. Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of graphic design socially, culturally and technological, during historical movements to the present.
4. Communicate effectively in the language of graphic design.
A. Identify formal vocabulary of design (e.g., line, color, composition, perspective)
B. Apply identified methodologies to critically respond to assigned examples of graphic design.
