SKCT 111 - Construction Print InterpretationCredits: 3 Instructional Contact Hours: 3
Instruction in this course includes trade terminology and description of the various views of working drawings, pictorial drawings, and the basic procedures in development of these drawings. Also included is the interpretation of specifications and job information as they pertain to construction and layout. Credit may be earned in either SKCT 111 or RC 101 but not both.

Outcomes and Objectives
- Students will correctly identify architectural symbols.
- Describe and label plan, elevation, and section symbols.
- Students will utilize an architectural scale to properly dimensions drawings and objects.
- Use an architectural scale to measure in multiple drawing scales.
- Students will become familiar with housing styles and differentiate between them.
- Gain knowledge of different housing styles.
- Students will illustrate the ability to complete architectural calculations.
- Complete calculations in feet in inches.
- Students will inventory the different building systems and distinguish between the various components.
- Correctly label the components of the floor system.
- Describe each component of the floor system.
- Compare the different products that can be used for a floor system.
- Correctly label the components of the wall system.
- Describe each component of the wall system.
- Compare and contrast the different products that can be used for a wall system.
- Correctly label the components of the roof system.
- Describe each component of a conventional roof system.
- Explain how a roof truss replaces the conventional components.
- Students will translate the main working drawings and appraise the relationship between the different views.
